2016

From the very start, analogue and digital media play an important role in the everyday lives of most children. Daycare and childminding settings cannot ignore the media world children grow up in either. The eight short films support early years professionals in using media meaningfully in early childhood education. This is not only about handling technology and equipment, but also about processing media experiences. Across a series of short films building on one another, they show how analogue and digital media can support different developmental tasks at toddler and kindergarten age and create opportunities for communication. The films are meant to encourage engagement with the topic of media education, foster dialogue between parents and professionals, counter social exclusion, and spark interest in exploring the opportunities and risks of media in greater depth.

The short films were produced as part of the "Gutes Aufwachsen mit Medien" ("Growing Up Well with Media") initiative, funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
