As a joint research project of the Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen (KWI) and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS), “Demoenergie” examines the possibilities and limits of dialogue-based public participation in the context of the energy transition. A range of different stakeholders were closely involved in planning a high-voltage power line between Windischeschenbach and Schwandorf (Bavaria). Our “photo elicitation” short films follow four protagonists who took part in the different project phases. Each of them has their own distinct view of the planning process and its goals. Taken together, these videos offer insight into the many-layered, socio-cultural dimension of public participation in the energy transition.
