The North Anatolian Fault

Istanbul is one of the most earthquake-prone metropolises in the world, lying directly next to the North Anatolian Fault zone. This short animated film portrays Olcay, a young geoscientist who is interested not only in plate tectonics but also in the social and societal impact earthquake risk has on her city.

This film and the doctoral thesis behind it were funded through the Marie Curie Integrated Training Network 'Anatolian pLateau climatE and Tectonic hazards' (ALErT). It was nominated as "best science communication" video at the Understanding Risk conference in Mexico City.
